rock it out.

I wish I could give you some elaborate history about this tee or tell you that I found this"vintage band tee" under heaps of tees at goodwill on the first Saturday of the month when everything is 50% off...but really I stumbled upon it in when I was in Miami last weekend at Forever21. awk.

The vintage band tee trend has been a thing since summer. Some call it basic, I call it cute af. lol Celebrities (both male and female) have been sporting tees from all different types of bands from Guns 'n Roses to ACDC and Metallica, but do you ever wonder if they actually even know anything about the band? I'd argue not. I'm not mad though because the only bands I know are the Beatles and the Jonas Brothers. sue me.

I decided to do a little bit of research on this band because I thought if I was supporting a band, I should probably know the chorus of at least one of their songs. So, I did what most millennials do when they don't know an answer and I googled it. One problem -- I thought that the shirt said "Def Ceppard."

~justDemiBthings~

Sooooo when I googled it nothing came up. TGOD that google is smarter than me and suggested that I search "Def Leppard" instead. Before you judge, in my defense, their "L" totallyyy looks like a very metal band-ish way of writing a "C".

Hope you enjoyed how I styled this "vintage" band -- scroll down to see where I got everything from! :)

camel.

No color says fall quite like camel. Marsala and camel/taupe are probably about as colorful as you'll probably see me this fall/winter and I'm not sorry about it.

IMG_1062.JPG
IMG_1064.JPG

Something about the richness of this color kind of speaks to my soul. Everyone needs the perfect camel coat, sweater, and dress in their wardrobe for fall -- it's kind of a necessity. If you remember, last fall/winter I bought the perfect camel coat and styled it (almost one year later and I'm still obsessed with it), and I have a couple of camel sweaters, but this is my first dress in this color.

When styling this dress, I found that it looked best when paired with black accessories, hence, the all black watch, black sunnies and black lace up shoes. Because it's a shift dress that doesn't cling to your body, layering is most def an option. So if you live somewhere where you can't wear short sleeves in the fall, putting a thin, fitted long sleeve black shirt underneath it could also look super cute (and you wouldn't freeze your arms off ;))

A special thank you to Tobi.com for sponsoring this post -- but just so you know, all opinions are my own. ;)

blanket cardi.

Cardi is to cardigan as perf is to perfect. [ Who would have known that learning about analogies in my 3rd grade english class would eventually come in handy] lolz

IMG_0897.JPG
IMG_0905.JPG

Not going to lie, I use abbreviations for my words and its getting out of hand. I'm pretty sure 70% of my vocab is made up abbreviations. But you know the worst part? I say them so much that people around me know what I mean when I say them. soz (aka sorry). It makes me feel a bit better about myself knowing that this is a millennial problem not just me...TGOD.

I said that to inform you that I have almost completely cut out the term "cardigan" from my vocab and say "cardi", so don't be alarmed when you see a word that doesn't appear in the Merriam Webster Dictionary in my writing lol (I promise I got an A in freshman english and I am in fact fluent in English).

But lets get to business -- shall we? This camel blanket cardi [also available in black] from my peeps at Tobi.com is the perfect fall piece!! Why might you ask? Because it's a chic piece that legit doubles as a blanket. It's fabric is a very thick material that's sure to keep you warm during fall. ( I'd be lying if I told you I didn't cuddle up in this during my classes. ;))

Hellloo beautiful people!!

This post is going to be a quickie -- why might you ask? Because I have a NUC 273 [Mechanics of Materials] exam tomorrow that I'm stressin' about. I needed a quick study break before my brain exploded so what better way to relieve some stress than a new post. ;)

Anyway, with absolutely no warning from Indiana, it's finally feeling like fall (tbh dangnear winter) here in West Lala which gave me the perfect reason to bust out the jackets. Motorcycle jackets [aka Moto Jackets] are a fall wardrobe staple and I'm obsessed with this one from Tobi.com

fallin for you.

If you read my last post, it's no surprise to you that I'm in love with fall... but there's one thing that I don't really like about this oh so beautiful season. I'm about to be honest with you all please don't judge.

Drumroll please...I'm not a huge fan of the PSL. For those of you who are unaware of what that is, its Starbucks' popular fall-time drink, the drink of the season, THE Pumpkin Spice Latte.

After soooooo much hype, last year I finally I tried this drink that seems to be in every girl's hand during fall. I was so excited, like realllly excited. Why might you ask? I thought it was going to be this life changing experience. Everyone that I talked to seemed to be head over heels for this PSL. It was nearly impossible to talk about fall and this drink not come up in conversation. So when I took a whole half sip and decided the PSL wasn't for me I felt like  a fraud. Is fall really even my favorite season?

To be honest, I have no clue why I thought I would like it because I'm not the biggest pumpkin fan....at all. lolz. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for pumpkin patches and picking the perfect pumpkin to carve, but eating? nah.

I don't even know how this Pumpkin Spice trend started, but I think it's safe to say its gotten out of hand -- here are a few of my fav Overdone Pumpkin Spice treats:

1) Pumpkin Spice dog treats

2) Pupmkin Spice air freshener

3) PSL Makeup Highlighter [lol I had to link this so you didn't think I was kidding]

4) PSL Shampoo/ Conditioner

5) PSL Burger King Burger [only in Japan TGod]

Winter, Spring, Summer, PSL. 'Tis the season ladies + gents -- I hope you enjoy the Pumpkin Spice season ;)

James.

Sweater weather, bonfires, and pumpkin spice everything -- Fall is approaching and I honestly couldn't be happier...

We are a whole 7 days away from the official first day of fall and I couldn't be any more excited. Fall is hands down my favorite season...hands down. Even though here in the midwest and it lasts for a whole 2 weeks, this is the time of year that I live for. The chunky scarves, layering, and sweater weather? It's all music to my ears.

4 REASONS WHY I LOVE FALL

1. It's not too hot or too cold.

I'm totally just not a summer girl. Don't get me wrong I love the beach and the lake but I just can't really handle the heat. My favorite thing about summer is knowing that fall is just around the corner. Spring? Wayyyyy too much pollen and bees (FYI ever since I was stung behind my ear in the 4th grade, I'm terrified of bees). Winter? I'm a winter baby and I'm so proud, but after living in the Midwest, winter has kind of been ruined for me. [Plus, no one can see your cute 'fit underneath your huge parka. sigh]

2. You can still wear ripped jeans.

If you wear ripped jeans during the winter months, you will legit freeze your knee caps off. But with fall, you can keep wearing them and your knees will stay in tact. For that, I am forever thankful.

3. It's acceptable to start drinking hot chocolate.

I never have been and never will be a coffee girl. I'm more of a tea and hot chocolate type of gal, so during the summer, I just look weird walking around when everyone is drinking/ordering their iced coffee drinks and all I ever drink is Earl Grey Tea / Lipton English Tea (with hazelnut coffee creamer and sugar-- try it, it's going to change your life)

4. FALL FASHION IS BAE.

There is no other fashion season that makes me more happy than fall. I don't know how to explain the feeling or why I feel that way, but I just do.

OFF SHOULDER

My obsession with Off the Shoulder is very high-key unhealthy. And you know what doesn't help? This trend isn't going anywhere. ;)

I've purchased a lot of Off-Shoulder pieces in my lifetime, but these are my first where the sleeves are actually made of different pieces of cloth that are attached to the body of the dress/top by thread. I must say, not only is it genius, but its genius. I know I can't be the only person that struggled hardcore when I tried to lift up my hands when I was wearing an off the shoulder top. This invention saved me from looking very foolish on the daily.

This trend was everywhereeee this summer -- top, dresses, and rompers. And with fall/winter approaching, I've been keeping an eye out for cool fall trends, and lo and behold, off the shoulder sweaters are most def going to be on the shelves (T GOD). Off Shoulder articles of clothing are such a great summer to fall transitional pieces.

While I'm so so so excited for fall and the fall trends, I'm not going to wish away the warm days that we have left in anticipation of fall...... so I guess I'll stop  the sweater weather talk [for now].

Satin.

First things first -- I felt like I needed to explain why my romper is so wrinkly. I thought  it was important to let you know that I do in fact own an iron so please let me explain lol. 1) I almost burned the romper because I had it on the highest heat [apparently satin doesn't use the same iron setting as cotton] 2) It wasn't this bad when I walked out of the house I promise.

IMG_9463.JPG
IMG_9483.JPG

I had to make that disclaimer for many reasons but the biggest one was because my mother reads my blog and would be so disappointed to see my dress this way, but it really isn't my fault. ~sorry mom. love you~

I tried to iron it, I really did -- but after almost burning a hole in the material, I thought that throwing a thin sheet over the romper and ironing over it would be a better way of getting the wrinkles out. And in my defense it worked pretty well and the wrinkles weren't bad when I left the house, but sitting down recreated them. If you have a life hack about how to effectively iron satin, please let me know!!! I'm thinking investing in a personal steamer is going to be my best bet at this point.

Okay so on to the look. Satin/Silk is a huge trend this fall. Its seen in tops, dresses, and most popularly bomber jackets. While satin rompers ins't a trend I've seen very much of, when AMAZING LACE  sent me this romper I was so excited to get a chance to style it.

Keep an eye out, I have a feeling you'll be seeing a lot of satin on The Efflorescence this season. ;)

lost files.

Usually by lost files, most instagrammers mean that the picture ("file") was lost in their insanely large camera roll of 4,000+ pictures (guilty as charged). Not even going to pretend like I haven't used #lostfiles in a caption before! But in this case, I actually mean that these files were lost and just magically appeared in a folder on my computer.

Remember when I told you that my adorable pup chewed up my SD card? Yes? perf, you're amazing. No? Take a look at the post here! ;) Anywaysss, it was nothing less than a miracle that I discovered these pics on my desktop.

So here we have it folks, another post from my trip abroad featuring these kick butt James Jeans denim shorts. Damn Demi, back at it again with the black and white outfit... and why yes, yes I am, and not even going to lie, I am the least bit apologetic about. Why might you ask? WELL, this was  probably the most simple, minimal fit a girl could put together (not to talk of comfortable which is always an added plus.) And its so easy to recreate a look similar.

casual romper.

Rompers are honestly both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because they're such an easy outfit to throw on (like little no thought necessary) and a curse because well, you have to factor in about 5 additional minutes into your restroom time because unless they have a zipper (highly unlikely) getting in and out of these bad boys is quite the struggle. No joke, it should be an olympic sport.

This gem is from sheinside.com and I'm not even going to lie, it took a lot out of me to actually buy something from this site. I thought it was kind of sketch and it is so inexpensive (almost too cheap to believe) and I didn't know if it was one of those sites where what you get in the mail looks nothing like what I thought I bought... So naturally I type in google "SheIn Haul" and find the first haul on youtube with over 100,000 views (because that's how I know if something is legit lol sue me.)

I got five things, one of which was this romper and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Out of the five pieces only two were a little different than I thought -- a top was a little bit more cropped than I thought it would be and a black one piece swimsuit was a little bit too thin for my comfortability. However, for the price, they were pretty good buys! My suggestion for this site is to probably buy more trendy pieces that you may not wear too often and you'll be golden!! Also, they have a lot of one size fits all clothing so I would make sure to be cautious.

Happy shopping ;)

IMG_8110.JPG

Luckily, I saved a couple of pictures from each look so I'll still have some content, but not nearly as much as I originally had. :( Literally a blogger's worst nightmare. It's such a bummer because I didn't back up some of my favorite pics and unless geek squad knows how to work miracles, I think those pictures are long gone.

On the plus side, I got this BOMB lace up dress from GG Boutique and I am loving it. It's the epitome of an easy outfit. I shot this look when I was back in Puglia, Italy in the Italian countryside. And let me tell you, the heat was brutal. It was that kind of disrespectful heat that no one should really have to deal with. When its hot out, finding the motivation to put together a cute outfit that allows you breathe is harder than it looks. Lucky for me, I had this number. ;)

FW finds.

I cannot tell you how excited I was when I found out there was a new store opening in the good 'ole fort. My heart was happy, but my bank account was crying but you know what? Sometimes thats okay.

IMG_7417.JPG

If you live in Fort Wayne and you like wearing clothes, you need to check this store out. It's the cutest little thing and it's right behind the Parkview baseball field. Not to mention they carry both Quay and Mumu. One thing I do love and appreciate about the store is that they have items in different price ranges (I'm pretty sure this dress was like $40) cuz we're all ballin on a  budget. Like come on people, it doesn't get much better than that.

This dress was love at first try on, and I'm not exaggerating. I went in during their soft opening and I was in a rush because I was leaving for Europe the next day and when I saw this, I knew it was fate. It is the perfect hot summer day outfit. Why might you ask? Well, first the material is super thin and second, the slits in the dress make it super breezy and airy. Its literally amazing.

Maxi Dress: Lace + Arrow

white denim.

White denim is totally a summer trend that I've always found kind of difficult to style. Whether its shorts, skinny jeans, on linen flare pants, finding a top that goes nicely with them has always been so hard for me.

IMG_0733.JPG

I would always end up resulting to a pinstripe oxford top, a blue chambray shirt, or a blouse in some shade of blue. I never really experimented. Blue or blue -- That's kind of how it went. While I still love that look (and you'll see in a few days a look that i created with an oxford top and white bottoms) I kind of wanted to switch it up a bit. AND BEHOLD, we have this look. I found this top at Forever 21 (my beloved mother has banned me from that store so this might be the last item you see from them for a while) and it was a STEAL. I can't remember the price but it was less than $15.

It came with a piece of cloth that I made a choker (apparently its a skinny scarf,  but whatevs.) PLUS The nude/blush pink color of the top really compliments the white jeans. I will tell you though, the quality of the top wasn't all that great. I had to cut some loose strings off of the choker part of the top, but after I did that I didn't have any problems.

And where are the jeans from? Yes, you guessed it. JAMES JEANS. They've done it again people, their jeans are purely amazing -- these white bottoms are the perfect jegging. They're definitely more jean than jegging but that's exactly how I like it.

vitamin sea.

I know, I know -- "Vitamin Sea" is so cliche and yes I know every girl has probably used that as an instagram caption a least once... BUT it kinda just fits so #sorrynotsorry.

I was I wish I could take all the credit for finding this adorable, comfy, and just plain amazing dress but I can't. Molly, a fellow Chi Beta ChiO and incredible Trunk Club Stylist picked it out for me and it was sent in my trunk last month before I set out for Europe. I couldn't be more in love. (If you missed my last post about Trunk Club, you should totally go and read it! I explain what exactly it is!) This dress came in super handy during the trip because it was so light (good for the hot weather PLUS good for packing purposes -- 50 lbs is nearly impossible for 3 weeks of clothes.)
